- Where did the name Los Kiosk Bears come from?
it’s an interesting story! Paul’s brother John once had to entertain a business visitor who had come over from Sweden for a few days. Being at a loss of how to entertain this visitor, he decided to take him to London Zoo, having discovered that this gentleman loved to visit zoos in whichever city he happened to be in. Whilst walking round the zoo they came upon a direction arrow sign that said ‘Kiosk, Bears’, upon seeing this the Swedish visitor exclaimed ‘Very much would I like to see these Kiosk Bears!!’ Obviously not realising that it was just a direction sign to two different locations at the zoo!! This obviously caused great mirth and embarrassment all round.
However when Paul heard this, he thought ‘what a great name for a band – the Kiosk Bears!!’
Later, in a flash of genius Dave suggested adding ‘Los’ at the front to make it sound more exotic. And so the Los Kiosk Bears were born!
- What kind of music do Los Kiosk Bears play?
A good question – a mixture of vintage surf classics (like Pipeline, Hawaii 5-0, Surf Rider, Apache) together with more blusier numbers such as St Louis Blues, Summertime and Jigsaw Puzzle Blues. However we are continually adding new numbers to our repertoire. Our unique sound is derived from a mixture of vintage arrangements played on modern instruments with electronic and synth additions to make us sound literally out of this world !!
- Who are the members of the band?
Paul: Guitar, vocals, synth Dave: Guitar, backing vocals John: Bass guitar Ed: Drums
